Southern Area Hospice Services provide care through a number of services in the local area including a Day Hospice Unit which is located on the D Floor in the South Tyrone Hospital. The Day Hospice Unit is a nurse managed unit which offers respite care and support to patients. Southern Area Hospice Services also offer counselling services and bereavement and carer support groups in their Dungannon Resource Centre which is located at 23 Irish Street in Dungannon, a Homecare Specialist Palliative Care Nurse in the Armagh and Dungannon area, a 12-bed inpatient unit in Newry, a Day Hospice Unit in Newry and they also hold outpatient clinics in South Tyrone, Daisy Hill and Craigavon Area Hospitals on a regular basis.

To continue to provide the level of care currently available to local people, the Southern Area Hospice Fundraising department must raise £2.5 million in 2017 alone and the car raffle makes a valuable contribution towards this.

Speaking at the launch, Mid-Ulster District Council Chair Councillor Trevor Wilson said “I am delighted to help launch the Southern Area Hospice Services Car Raffle for 2017. The Hospice provides an invaluable service to local people at very difficult times in their lives and I am pleased to be able to support their fundraising efforts to enable them to continue to provide their specialised care.”

Also speaking at the launch Michael Salt of Saltmarine said, “We are so pleased to be able to help and support the Southern Area Hospice again in this way by providing a new Hyundai i10 as the main prize. This will help raise essential funds to enable the Hospice to continue to provide their much needed care in the community. We can’t wait to see the winner’s face when they collect their new car”.
