The all-new i20 is the third generation of Hyundai’s B-segment model, which first launched in 2008. One of the company’s most successful models, the i20 stands for quality, reliability, and practicality. In addition to these core pillars, the all-new i20 introduces a completely new, dynamic style.
Boasting a new look alongside a host of new features, the i20 has built on its predecessor by adding a sportier design that has been complemented by the addition of mild-hybrid technology for the first time as standard across the range.
The Sensuous Sportiness design provides the all-new i20 with a stylish character that is emphasised by its dynamic-looking front and rear bumpers, as well as its new radiator grille. With a longer wheelbase and increased width, i20 offers more seating space for passengers sitting in the rear, while the driver benefits from improved visibility thanks to a decreased beltline and inclusion of a window behind the rear doors. Boot capacity has grown by 25 litres over the outgoing model, and now offers a substantial 351 litres of space.
The all-new i20 offers best-in-class connectivity with a range of high-tech convenience features, including wireless phone mirroring availability and Hyundai Bluelink technology. The all-new i20 is the first Hyundai model in Europe to feature a premium Bose audio system.
The all-new i20 is available with a 1.0 T-GDi 100PS 48-volt mild hybrid powertrain. The 48-volt system contributes to a 3-4% reduction of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. All-new i20 is available with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission (7DCT) or a newly-developed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT). iMT de-couples the engine from the transmission to enter into coasting mode, therefore saving fuel. There are two levels of coasting: with the engine still on in idle and with the engine off.
With a range of interior enhancements, all-new i20 customers can enjoy quality time inside their vehicle. Hyundai’s designers sought innovative aesthetic and technical solutions to convey its stylish proportions, while creating a fresh and appealing look.
The interior space achieves an airy feeling inside the cockpit, while appearing sculptured and appealing. One design highlight is the horizontal blades that cover the high and prominent dashboard. This gives it a very unconventional look by making the front fascia look slick and wide.
The all-new i20’s doors embrace the dashboard in an elegant, sensual way, having been inspired by shapes found in nature. The sculpture of the doors perfectly matches the instrument panel section. Its refined steering wheel is equipped with modern toggle switches, while its colour accents are also matched throughout the interior.
Occupants of the all-new i20 can also enjoy a pleasant interior lighting at night thanks to new blue LED ambient light technology.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, now offered with a wireless solution (depending on the audio unit), enable customers to mirror the functionality of their iOS and Android smartphones. To increase the elegance and the visual comfort of the interior, the new 10.25-inch digital cluster and high-resolution 10.25-inch centre touchscreen have been visually combined. This paddle design makes the interior stand out, while the touchscreen also offers customers split-screen functionality for multitasking.
A wireless charging pad in the centre console means all-new i20 customers no longer need to use a cable to charge their smartphones, however there are three USB charging ports in the car.
The all-new i20 offers the latest version of Hyundai’s Bluelink technology, which offers a range of new benefits and services for Hyundai customers including Connected Routing, Last Mile Navigation and live parking information with on-street parking information, and a new user profile feature, as well as remote features via the Bluelink smartphone app. Bluelink comes with a free five-year subscription.
